Lesson 1: Miracles – God’s Power Breaking Into the Natural
From Foundation to Demonstration
In Class 1, we laid the foundation of sound doctrine—truths about the authority of Scripture, the character of God, and His eternal plan. That foundation now prepares us to move into demonstration. The truths we believe are meant to manifest in the supernatural. Faith is not passive; it produces visible fruit. In this next section of the course, we move into how God actively works through miracles, prayer, angels, and spiritual warfare to advance His Kingdom on earth.
The Gospel Is Meant to Be Demonstrated
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus didn’t just teach the Word—He confirmed it with power. Acts 10:38 says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Healing, deliverance, and supernatural provision were not side notes—they were central to His ministry. And they didn’t end with Jesus. The book of Acts reveals that the early Church preached the same message and experienced the same miracles. Mark 16:20 says, “They went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.” If the Church began in power, it should continue in power.
What Is a Miracle?
A miracle is a supernatural act of God that overrides the normal laws of nature in order to reveal His glory and fulfill His purpose. Miracles don’t contradict creation—they confirm the Creator. They serve as divine signs that point to the reality of the Kingdom of God. In Scripture, we see miracles of healing, deliverance, provision, protection, resurrection, and authority over nature. These acts reveal the heart of God: to redeem, to restore, and to make whole.
Miracles Are for Today
There is no scriptural basis for the belief that miracles have ceased. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” The same power that raised Lazarus from the dead, multiplied loaves and fish, and healed the blind is at work in the Church today. The ministry of Jesus was passed to the Church through the power of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are not historical—they are current, active, and necessary for effective ministry. A powerless gospel is not the true gospel.
Faith and Obedience Release the Supernatural
Miracles often follow acts of faith and obedience. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus would ask people to act on their belief—stretch out your hand, rise and walk, go wash in the pool. These actions were not arbitrary; they were faith responses that released the power of God. James 2:17 reminds us that “faith without works is dead.” A believing leader speaks boldly, prays with confidence, and acts in obedience to the prompting of the Spirit. Miracles manifest in atmospheres where faith and obedience are active.
The Word and the Spirit Work Together
Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent out His word and healed them.” When the Word is preached in power, the Spirit moves to confirm it. The early apostles didn’t rely on eloquence—they relied on demonstration. Paul said, “My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (1 Corinthians 2:4). The same is true today. When we preach the Word with faith, we can expect God to back it with power.
Miracles and Ministry Today
As leaders of faith, we are called to cultivate environments where the miraculous is expected—not as a spectacle, but as a sign that Jesus is alive. This means making space for the Spirit to move. Testimonies of healing and breakthrough should be shared often. Services should allow time for the laying on of hands, the anointing of oil, and Spirit-led prayer. This isn’t emotionalism—it’s biblical ministry.
God Still Works With Us
God doesn’t ask us to work alone. He works with us. As we preach the gospel, pray in faith, and obey the Spirit’s leading, He moves. He confirms His Word. He reveals His power. Our role is not to manufacture results—it’s to make room for His power to be seen. Miracles are a natural result of supernatural alignment. And when they manifest, they bring glory to God, confirm the message, and draw people to Jesus.
